WebP to JPG converter

WebP is common on the modern web but plenty of software, printers and older phones still can't open it. Convert to JPG here for guaranteed compatibility.

How to use the webp to jpg converter

  1. Choose or drag in your WebP files.
  2. Adjust quality if needed.
  3. Download the JPG — it will open in essentially anything.

How it works

WebP was introduced by Google in 2010 and typically produces smaller files than JPG at equivalent visual quality, using more modern compression techniques. Most current browsers and phones display it fine, but many desktop applications, older devices and some printing and design workflows still expect JPG or PNG.

Converting is a straightforward re-encode: the image is decoded from WebP and written back out as JPG at the quality you choose. There is no quality gained by converting — the goal is compatibility, not improvement.

Common questions

Why do I have WebP images I didn't ask for?

Many websites now serve WebP automatically to save bandwidth, so images saved from the web are often WebP even if you didn't choose the format.

Does my phone support WebP?

Most current phones display WebP fine, but some apps for editing, printing or sharing still only accept JPG or PNG.
