How it works
Error correction determines how much of the code can be obscured and still scan: low recovers about 7%, high about 30%. High correction makes the pattern denser but lets you place a logo in the middle or survive a scuff on a printed sign.
These are static codes — the data lives in the pattern itself, so they work forever and need no service behind them, but the destination cannot be changed once printed. For anything you may want to redirect later, encode a short URL you control.
Common questions
Do these codes expire?
No. The data is in the pattern and there is no tracking service involved, so a printed code keeps working indefinitely.
What size should I print it?
A rough rule is one centimetre of code for every metre of scanning distance, and never below about two centimetres.
Is a Wi-Fi QR code safe to display?
It contains the password in plain text, so treat it like writing the password on the wall — fine for a guest network, less so for your main one.
